部活動紹介週間が終わりましたClub Recruitment Week Is Over
今週は放課後になるたび、教室が勧誘の場になりました。ドアが開くたびに誰かが入ってきて、黒板の前で自分の部の説明を始める。授業中よりよほど真剣な顔をしている生徒が何人もいました。
1年A組の入部届は、本日までに二十三名分が提出されました。生徒会の役員になった二名と、帰宅部に決めた五名は、提出していません。まだ五名に届いた部はありません。迷っているなら、一度見学に行ってから決めてください。見てから断るのは、失礼なことではありません。
茶道部の勧誘は、今週いちばん熱心でした。廊下に貼られていた紙を、許可をもらってここに写しておきます。
Every day this week, the moment school ended, our classroom became a recruiting ground. The door would open, someone would walk in, and they would begin explaining their club in front of the blackboard. Several students looked far more serious than they ever do in class.
As of today, twenty-three of the thirty students in 1-A have handed in a club application. The two who became student council officers, and the five who have settled on the Go-Home Club, have not. No club has reached five yet. If you are unsure, go and watch before you decide. Watching and then saying no is not rude.
The Tea Ceremony Club recruited hardest of all. With their permission, here is the notice they put up in the corridor.

正座ができなくても大丈夫です（顧問もできません）。

卓球部は、朝練を続けている一年生がいます。石動くんです。担任は毎朝七時半に学校へ来ますが、彼のほうが先に体育館にいます。壁に向かって一人で打っている音が、廊下まで聞こえてきます。誰かを誘っているようですが、まだうまくいっていないようです。
In the Table Tennis Club, one first-year keeps up his morning practice: Isurugi. I arrive at school at half past seven every morning, and he is always in the gym before me. You can hear him hitting against the wall, alone, from the corridor. He seems to be trying to persuade someone to join him. It does not seem to be working yet.
球技大会のクラスTシャツについてClass T-shirts for the Ball Tournament
十二月十二日の球技大会に向けて、クラスTシャツを作ります。デザインは生徒会が取りまとめます。案のある人は、来週の水曜までに桜井さんへ。予算の都合で一案しか作れません。多数決になります。We will make class T-shirts for the ball tournament on December 12. The student council is collecting designs. If you have an idea, give it to Sakurai by next Wednesday. The budget allows only one design, so it will be decided by a vote.
