はじまりの日Our First Day
本日、開校式を無事に終えました。三十名の皆さんと、この教室で一年を過ごせることを嬉しく思います。窓の外に給水塔が見える教室は、日本の学校では見られません。ここで日本語の授業を受けるというのは、考えてみると不思議なことです。
式のあと、黒板に「みんなでつくる、最高の一年に」と書きました。担任が勝手に書いた言葉ですが、一年後にこれを笑って読み返せたらいい、と思っています。
本日、三十番に転入生を迎えました。森くんは日本から来たばかりで、この街にも学校にも慣れていません。声をかけてやってください。誰かに話しかけるのは勇気がいりますが、話しかけられるのを待つのも、同じくらい長く感じるものです。
Today we held our opening ceremony. I am glad to be spending the year in this classroom with the thirty of you. You will not find a classroom in Japan with a water tower outside the window. When you think about it, taking lessons in Japanese here is a strange thing to do.
After the ceremony I wrote on the blackboard: “Let’s make it the best year, together.” Your teacher wrote that on his own. I hope we can read it again in a year’s time and laugh.
Today we also welcomed a transfer student at seat number 30. Mori has only just arrived from Japan, and he does not yet know this city or this school. Please say hello to him. Speaking to someone takes courage — but waiting to be spoken to can feel just as long.
来週から部活動紹介週間Club Recruitment Week Starts Next Week
来週の水曜から、部活動紹介週間が始まります。放課後、入部を希望する人たちが教室を回って仲間を探しに来ます。いまのところ、一年A組の皆さんは全員が帰宅部です。無理に決める必要はありませんが、一度は見学に行ってみてください。
なお、本校の部活動は、部員が五名そろった部から始まります。開校したばかりなので、まだどの部も五名に届いていません。勧誘に熱が入るのは、そういう事情もあってのことです。
From next Wednesday, students hoping to start clubs will come round our classroom after school, looking for others to join them. For now, every one of you is in the Go-Home Club. There is no need to decide in a hurry, but please go and watch at least once.
Please note: a club can only begin once it has five members. We have just opened, so no club has five yet. That is partly why the recruiting will be so enthusiastic.
